Dr. Theodosios Bekoulis
Dr. Theodosios Bekoulis is a Military Doctor and Orthopaedic Surgeon, a graduate of the Medical School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the Military School of Corps Officers (SSAS). He has extensive experience in Traumatology and Orthopaedics, having trained and worked both in the Armed Forces and in the National Health System of the United Kingdom (NHS) and Greece (ESY). Currently, he is stationed in the 2nd Commando Squadron, while also serving as an Orthopaedic Registrar at Veria General Hospital.
His specialization in Orthopaedics and Traumatology includes training in major hospitals in Greece and the United Kingdom, where he gained extensive experience in the management of traumatic and degenerative musculoskeletal conditions. During his training, he actively participated in a large volume of emergency cases, polytrauma patients, and complex orthopaedic conditions, progressively undertaking increasing surgical responsibility.
In the United Kingdom, he worked in recognized Traumatology and Orthopaedics centers, such as Great Western Hospital (Swindon), Inverclyde Royal Hospital and Royal Alexandra Hospital (NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde), as well as University Hospital Crosshouse (NHS Ayrshire & Arran). In these centers, he trained across the full spectrum of modern orthopaedics, participating in elective and emergency surgeries, specialized outpatient clinics, and multidisciplinary teams (MDTs), with an emphasis on complex clinical decision-making.
His postgraduate training (specialization) focuses on hip and knee replacement, as well as the management of complex cases. During 2024–2025 at University Hospital Crosshouse, he specialized in hip and knee replacement, revision hip replacement surgery, hip replacement in technically demanding cases, and the treatment of complex traumatic injuries.
He possesses significant surgical experience as a primary surgeon in a wide range of procedures, including hip and knee replacements, hip resurfacing, shoulder, elbow, and hand surgeries, as well as high-severity trauma surgeries.
Concurrently, his military experience in Commando and Special Forces units includes high-energy trauma management, operational medicine, and personnel training in tactical trauma care. He has held positions of responsibility as a unit doctor, with active participation in operational activities, training, and search and rescue missions, developing strong leadership and organizational skills.
He actively participates in educational activities and multidisciplinary teams, contributing to evidence-based therapeutic decisions for complex cases. He also maintains academic activity with publications and participation in scientific conferences, enhancing his continuous professional development and his contribution to modern orthopaedic practice.
